Obinokor Talks, University of Alberta, April 2024
“Obinokor”, a term originating from the Igbo culture of Nigeria, denotes a woman who has reached a pivotal point in her life—an embodiment of wisdom and experience that transcends mere numerical age. In celebration of the profound wisdom and guidance embodied by the Obinokor in Igbo culture, inspired by Dr. Philomena Okeke-Ihejirika, we launched an enlightening series titled “Obinokor Talks” as part of our IPV Interventions within Alberta’s Black Communities project. Our 2024 Talks celebrated the completion of our IPV project, served as the official launch of our deliverables, and featured speakers across disciplines.
